Kolkata: Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP and nephew of West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee Abhishek Banerjee did not appear in a special court on Rause Avenue on Thursday. His lawyer told the court that he could not appear in the court due to the Parliament session, so that a further date may be given.  The Rauz AvengeR Court in Delhi has now asked Abhishek Banerjee to appear before the court on August 13.

Earlier, in the last hearing, the court had summoned Abhishek Banerjee for giving false information in the nomination papers filed at the time of 2014 Lok Sabha elections.  In fact, a complaint was filed accusing Abhishek Banerjee of giving false information. The court had taken cognisance of the complaint and ordered it to appear on July 25. The complaint was filed against Banerjee in the court on behalf of lawyer Neeraj.

The complaint said that the affidavit submitted by Abhishek Banerjee along with his nomination claimed to be studying up to MBA. According to the complaint, the claim is false and his degree is also bogus. Abhishek Banerjee has described himself as more educated to deceive the public, the complaint says.
