Patiala House Court postpones Abu Salem extortion case yet again

On Saturday, Delhi's Patiala House Court had postponed its judgment in the 2002 extortion case. The case involves 1993 Mumbai blasts case convict Abu Salem. The next date of judgment is slated on May 04.

Today, as per the reports, there was a probability of the sentence being pronounced. But due to some unknown reasons, the judgment was delayed by a week. Earlier on April 21, the court deferred the judgment and on Saturday again the judgment got delayed by a week.

In the previous reports, Salem alleged that the opposing lawyer did not have enough evidence against him in the case. He gave this statement after a fresh stock warrant was issued against him in February this year. Throughout Abu Salem's lawyer, the gangster had even declared that the trial in the case violated an order by which he was abandoned to India from Portugal in 2005.

Currently, Abu Salem is facing trial for supposedly demanding Rs 5 crore as protection money from Delhi businessman Ashok Gupta in 2002. He is facing imprisonment since from the day and the judgement on the case os twice delayed by the Supreme Court. Worth mentioning here that Abu Salem has been underworld and is married to the actor-model Monica Bedi.
