Bengaluru: A major train accident was averted in Karnataka this morning. At around 3.50 am, 5 coaches of Kannur-Bengaluru Express derailed suddenly between Toppuru-Sivdi in the Bengaluru division. As per information received from South Western Railway, all 2,348 passengers are safe at the time of the accident. No damage has been reported.

According to the same report, the Kannur-Bengaluru Express was passing between Toppuru-Sivdi this morning when the mountain stones suddenly started falling down. Five coaches of Kannur-Bengaluru Express derailed due to stones on the tracks. The driver wisely stopped the train immediately, which did not cause any major accident.

South Western Railway officials who rushed to the spot after receiving information about the same incident inspected the accident. The work of removing stones from near the tracks is in full swing.
