Hyderabad: According to the Health Department, 2,87,73,909 persons have received at least one dose so far in the state. A total of 3,27,880 eligible persons were given the Covid vaccine in government and private centers across the state on Monday. Of the 327,880 people vaccinated on Monday, 184,593 received the first dose, while 143,287 received the second dose. A total of 1,53,56,465 persons have received the dose so far in the 18-44 years category. Of these, 1,18,02,963 received the first dose, while 35,53,502 received the second dose.

According to the Union Health Ministry data, the country has given more than 99 crore doses of the Covid-19 vaccine so far (till Tuesday). In fact, WHO Director-General Dr Tedros lauded the "huge efforts" made by the Indian government for vaccination against Covid-19, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said in a tweet. With adequate vaccine supplies in place, the Union Health Ministry on Tuesday urged states/UTs to focus on increasing the coverage of the second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.

Meanwhile, in a positive sign in the fight against Covid-19, India's R-value, which shows how fast the Covid-19 pandemic is spreading, remained below 1 since September despite the festive rush. The country's R-value was 0.90 between September 25 and October 18. Researchers say that this suggests that the rate of coronavirus infection is decreasing. According to researchers at the Chennai-based Institute of Mathematical Sciences, the R-values ​​of the top 10 states with the most active cases were down from October 1 to October 18.
