Lucknow: On November 17, 2023, an FIR was filed in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, targeting Halal India Private Limited, Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, and other individuals and organizations. The complaint alleges that the issuance of Halal certificates is an attack on Hindu faith, prompting a demand for action against those involved. Following the registration of the case, on November 18, the Uttar Pradesh government replaced the Halal certification with FSSAI (Food Safety and Standards Authority of India) certification, deeming it more suitable for standards.

The FIR mentions the Delhi and Mumbai offices of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, as well as the Chennai and Mumbai offices of Halal India. It also names unknown companies promoting Halal certificates, individuals plotting anti-national activities, groups supporting terrorist endeavors, and those conspiring to incite riots and manipulate public trust.

The complainant, Shailendra Kumar, asserts that individuals of a particular religion are issuing Halal certificates under the guise of religious practices. According to the complaint, this is a deceptive strategy aimed at boosting sales for people of that particular religion while engaging in criminal activities to diminish the sales of companies not holding Halal certification.

The FIR describes the Halal certificate as a tactic to attract Muslims and accuses the issuing companies of misusing the government's name with falsified documents. Irregularities in the documents of these companies are alleged, and the complaint suggests an attempt to sow division in society.

The complainant accuses all the parties involved of spreading hatred, earning significant sums through criminal activities, conspiring against the nation, and potentially funding terrorists with money obtained from issuing Halal certificates. It claims that the proceeds from these activities are being employed in anti-national endeavors.

Furthermore, the FIR notes that Halal certificates are being issued for products like oil, soap, toothpaste, honey, etc., even though such items are vegetarian and do not require a Halal certification. The complaint emphasizes that the propagation against using items without Halal certification is harming the interests of other business groups.
