After one week, Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, Saif Ali Khan, and Sunny Singh's Adipurush, directed by Om Raut and produced by Bhushan Kumar, has earned Rs 119.75 crores nett at the Indian Box Office in Hindi. The picture performed well over the first weekend, but witnessed significant drops throughout the weekdays. This film's popularity is unlike any other in recent memory. After a weekend cume of just more over Rs 100 crores, Adipurush is unlikely to gross even Rs 135 crores in its entire run, making it a colossal disappointment.
Adipurush (Hindi) gained only Rs 2.75 crores nett on day 7, a reduction of almost 90% from day 1. Although there is no huge release to counter Prabhas' starrer, it will be unable to capitalise on the open run due to audience rejection. The Telugu version has performed somewhat better because it is playing as a star-driven film in the south as opposed to a Ramayana-based film in the north, but it isn't adding up to much because the verdict from the audiences is loud and clear.
Despite the unfavourable buzz, Adipurush enjoyed a strong debut weekend at the Indian box office. The film kept its ground over the weekend, grossing approximately Rs 265-270 crores globally. Since then, the film has seen enormous drops, indicating that Adipurush's lifetime total will be in the area of Rs 350 crores. This will make it the third highest grossing Indian film of the year, following Pathaan and Ponniyin Selvan II. Adipurush is a big underperformer despite being one of India's most expensive films and based on the timeless narrative of Ramayana.
