ISRO's Chairman, S Somanath, shared an update on the progress of India's pioneering solar mission, the Aditya L1 spacecraft, signaling its approach towards the concluding phase. Set to embark on a significant journey to study the Sun, this spacecraft is now on the brink of its final leg, with anticipated maneuvers to secure its entry into the crucial L1 point slated for completion by January 7, 2024.

Expressing confidence in the spacecraft's trajectory, Somanath remarked, "Aditya is making remarkable strides and has nearly reached its ultimate phase." Speaking to PTI during an event commemorating the 60th year of the First Sounding Rocket Launch at VSSC, he highlighted the ongoing incremental preparations pivotal for the spacecraft's forthcoming arrival at the L1 point.

He further detailed, "The conclusive maneuvers for reaching the L1 point are currently in progress. We anticipate that by January 7th, the final adjustments will be completed to enable entry into this pivotal point."

The successful launch of Aditya L1 on September 2 from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) in Sriharikota marked a pivotal milestone in India's space exploration endeavors.

After a voyage spanning approximately 1.5 million kilometers over 125 days, the spacecraft is slated to be positioned in a Halo orbit encircling the Lagrangian point L1, recognized as the proximity point to the Sun. One of its primary objectives includes the capture and transmission of detailed imagery of the Sun, facilitating crucial scientific experiments.

The nearing realization of the Aditya L1 mission represents a significant leap forward for India's space program, poised to unlock new insights into solar phenomena and deepen our understanding of the celestial body that sustains life on Earth.
