Lucknow: Central probe agency Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday (November 1) seized unnamed assets worth over Rs 10 crore of gangster Vikas Dubey. These properties were bought by Vikas Dubey in the name of his relatives and associates. These properties are present in Kanpur and surrounding areas. During the search operation, the ED got information about more than 28 illegal properties of Dubey. Dubey used to occupy the land in the name of his wife Richa Dubey, and relatives including Jayakant and their relatives. 

Let us tell you that Vikas Dubey was the prime accused in the Bikru massacre of 3 July 2020. In this, eight policemen who had gone to raid his house were shot dead by him and his associates. Within a week of the incident, Vikas Dubey and five members of his gang were killed in an encounter with the police. After registering the ECIR, the ED started further investigation under PMLA-2002 to identify the persons involved in the offence of purchase of property etc. from illegal profits earned by the suspects.

Explain that, during the investigation under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act-2002, assets worth Rs 10.12 crore were identified and verified. This includes properties acquired from proceeds of crime acquired by criminal activities of Vikas Dubey, his family members, Jayakant Bajpai and his family members and other associates.
