After five months interlude Metro services resumed in Hyderabad

Metro Rail Services resumed in Hyderabad city after an interlude of around five months. The Metro began zooming across the city on all three corridors on Wednesday. After a gap of over five months in operations, now the services had resumed in a graded manner.

On Monday, Metro services were operated on all three corridors continuously from 7 am to 9 pm. A total of 680 train trips were made in which it is estimated to have around 31,000 passengers on the first day itself. From Thursday onwards, the train services will be regular on all corridors from 7 am to 9 pm, Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited Managing Director NVS Reddy said that after commencing the operations it was ensured that services were operated with strict adherence to Covid-19 guidelines and by assuring that all travellers were boarding the train wearing face masks.

The face mask has been made mandatory not just for boarding passengers but for staff as well, with Smart Card and Mobile QR tickets, the team is also encouraging cashless transactions by promoting online payment for the safety of passengers. In order to maintain social distancing, suitable markings at stations and inside trains are already in place. Thermal screening to be done at entry points into the stations to ensure that only asymptomatic persons were being allowed to travel. The HMRL has set the frequency of trains every five minutes. The five stations, which are situated in containment zones will remain close as of now.
