Ranchi: A local woman BJP leader has been arrested in Jharkhand's Adityapur for writing an objectionable Facebook post in support of Nupur Sharma. Earlier, a Muslim man was arrested in a similar case. According to the police, Anisha Sinha, a member of the executive committee of the BJP's district committee of Saraikela-Kharsawan district of the state, was arrested on Monday.
The same Sinha has been booked under section 295A (intentional and malicious act with intent to hurt religious sentiments) and section 153A (promoting enmity between all groups) of the IPC. Police said the BJP leader's mobile phone has been recovered.
The same is on alert in the district after Nupur Sharma's alleged objectionable remarks about Prophet Mohammed. There was widespread violence in Ranchi last week over the issue. Saraikela police have stepped up social media surveillance to prevent the spread of tension. After this comment, the BJP has suspended Nupur Sharma from the party. This comment created an uproar in the country and the world. Former BJP spokesperson Sharma has also been booked in several states.
