Again Ceasefire violation starts in Poonch sector, kills 3 civilians

Poonch: On Friday, As the country celebrated the return of Indian Air Force pilot, Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman, from Pakistan’s custody indiscriminate shelling from across the border continued along the Line of Control, leaving 3 civilians dead and another severely injured in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch sector. The three members of a family who were killed in the shelling belonged to Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch. Three houses were also severely damaged in the shelling.

It is worth mentioning here that Senior Superintendent of Police (Poonch) Ramesh Kumar Angral said, “Three civilians have died in the ceasefire violation by Pakistan in Poonch,”. In Handwara, two militants are on the run after a blast brought down the house they were hiding in. Just as security forces started a search operation following the explosion, the militants began firing. During firing two CRPF personnel and two police officers were killed in the firing, with 8 others, including a CRPF commanding officer injured.

However, yesterday, 5 security personnel were martyred in an encounter with militants while a civilian died in clashes in Kupwara. After receiving inputs about the presence of terrorists in Babagund area of Kupwara, security forces cordoned off the area and conducted a search operation during which terrorists opened firing towards them after which they retaliated.

It is needed to mentioning here that during the encounter, clashes between a group of youngsters and security personnel took place which led to the death of a youth identified as Waseem Ahmad Mir.
