The final Amrit Snan of Mahakumbh 2025 in Prayagraj on the occasion of Mahashivratri is underway on Wednesday. Starting from January 13, 2025 the event culminates today after 45 days. Since midnight, a large number of devotees are thronging towards the Sangam to take the holy dip of Mahashivratri. A significant number of people patiently took their bath at ‘Brahma Muhurat’.

The Indian Air force (IAF) conducted an air show over the Mela premises on the last day of the Mahakumbh showcasing its strength and capabilities to the world, representing the significance of the grand event. ANI reported, “Indian Air force conducts air show over Mahakumbh mela kshetra on the last day of #Mahakumbh2025 – the 45-day-long Mela and the world’s largest human gathering that began on Paush Purnima, January 13.”

It is the fifth and last snan of the Mahakumbh 2025, an event taking place after a period of 144 years. The first snan took place on Paush Purnima, then on Makar Sankranti, Mauni Amavasya, Basant Panchami, and finally today on Mahashivratri.

About 65 crore pilgrims have visited the event by far and have taken the holy dip at the sacred confluence of Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati. This sets a new record of the largest human gathering of the world. The crowd surge has been observed ever since the weekend, owing to the final days at the Mahakumbh.

The administration had already examined the mela premises and ensured proper traffic management and security so that all the devotees could smoothly participate in the snan. The Kumbh mela kshetra has been declared a no-vehicle zone by the administration. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is closely monitoring the situation from Gorakhpur since 4 am in the morning along with other senior officials. Taking to X, he wrote, “Hearty congratulations to all the revered saints, Kalpavasis and devotees taking the holy dip in Triveni Sangam today on Mahashivratri, dedicated to Lord Bholenath…Har Har Mahadev.”

By 12 pm, as many as 85 lakh devotees had taken the holy bath. Even as the event is nearing to its end, there is no decline in the footfall of devotees. By the end of today, we do not know where will the count stop.
