President Draupadi Murmu visits Bageshwar Dham, attends the mass marriage function of 251 couples

President of India Draupadi Murmu has reached the famous Bageshwar Dham Aashram of Pandit Dhirendra Shastri in Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh to attend the mass marriage function of 251 couples on Wednesday. She was received by Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Dr. Mohan Yadav and the Governor of the State Mangubhai Patel at the Khajuraho Airport. From where all of them boarded a helicopter to reach Bageshwar Dham.

The President is here to attend the mass marriage function, where she will stay for about three hours and will leave for Vadodara around 3 pm. She was gifted with a Hanuman Yantra by the Chief Minister at the event. NRIs from various countries are also present at the event. They are delighted to be a part of the mass marriage festival, and find themselves fortunate. They praised Pt. Dhirenmdra Shastri for his initiative to support the young men and women from the underprivileged sections.  

Girls from nine states including Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Rajasthan are going to tie the knot at Bageshwar Dham’s Kanya Vivah Mahostav. The young couples who are getting married belong to the underprivileged Dalit, tribal and OBC communities. They are being given household equipment such as flour mills and sewing machines for their livelihood. Even the President presented suits and sarees to the newly wed couples.

President Murmu thanked Dhirendra Shastri and congratulated the young couples who tied the knot. Governor Mangubhai Patel also congratulated them and said that future generations learn good values from mass marriage ceremonies.

Bageshwar Dham’s initiative is said to break the cast barriers and shackles of the society. The Ashvamedha and the Digvijay horses were also brought to the event. Pt. Dhirendra Shastri said, “There is no one big or small in the country, everyone is equal. This festival is celebrated every year to fulfill this resolution. If the donation boxes of the temples are opened for the marriages of daughters, then no one can stop India from becoming the world leader. When the daughters get married from here, they will proudly say that Balaji is our father and we have got married with the blessings of the President.” He even urged people not to consider daughters as a burden on family or society.

Singer Sonu Nigam, cricketers Virender Sehwag, Robin Uthappa, RP Singh and actor Puneet Vashishth are also present at the ceremony. Former WWE wrestler The Great Khali also reached Bageshwar Dham.
