NEW DELHI: Har Kantha Mein Bharat: Akashvani Launches New Radio Series with 21 StationsÂ
On the auspicious day of Basant Panchami, Akashvani launched its new radio series, ‘Har Kanthh Mein Bharat’, designed to introduce listeners to the rich world of Indian classical music. The show, presented by the Ministry of Culture and Akashvani, started its broadcast from February 1 onwards. It will broadcast daily till February 16, across 21 radio stations in India, reaching listeners from all corners of the country.
The launch event took place at Akashvani’s Broadcasting House, where a floral tribute was paid to Goddess Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge and arts. The series was digitally inaugurated by Aruneesh Chawla, Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, and Prasar Bharati CEO Gaurav Dwivedi, who received a standing ovation from the audience.
Dwivedi detailed the Akashvani's long history in cultural exchange and how this series could inspire creative partnerships. In addition, Akashvani’s Director General, Dr. Pragya Paliwal Gaur, elaborated the special significance of Basant Panchami 2025, marking the rare significance of Saraswati and Lakshmi worship, symbolizing new beginnings.
Chawla also said it is need to preserve India's performing arts in the digital age and engage younger generations in this effort. He also expressed the Ministry’s commitment to expanding such initiatives to raise cultural awareness.
The launch event also featured live musical performances, making it live a festive atmosphere of Basant Panchami. The audience was captivated by a Saraswati Vandana, followed by a vocal rendition in Raag Basant. The performance of Raag Des on the Sarod left all people in the studio spellbound, highlighting the depth and beauty of classical music traditions of India.
