Lucknow: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav expressed confidence in the INDIA bloc forming the government at the Centre following the Lok Sabha election results on June 4, asserting that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would not exceed 140 seats.

Speaking to the media on Saturday, Yadav emphasized the public's dissatisfaction with the BJP, stating, "The truth is that those who are sitting facing the sea have turned their backs on the public. The people are also against them. What does '400 paar' mean? They (BJP) will not go beyond 140."

Yadav arrived in Delhi from Lucknow airport to attend the meeting of INDIA bloc leaders. Other leaders, including RJD's Tejashwi Yadav, AAP's Raghav Chadha, Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren, and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Anil Desai, also joined the meeting in New Delhi.

Tejashwi Yadav highlighted the electorate's desire to challenge rising inflation, poverty, and unemployment, expressing confidence in the INDIA bloc securing over 300 seats. He dismissed the effectiveness of exit polls, predicting surprising results in Bihar that would prevent the BJP from forming a government at the Centre.

AAP MP Raghav Chadha announced the participation of top INDIA bloc leaders, including AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal, in the meeting convened at Mallikarjun Kharge's residence.

Jharkhand CM Champai Soren echoed Yadav's optimism, anticipating a significant number of seats for the INDIA Alliance and dismissing the BJP's "400 paar" slogan. Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Anil Desai emphasized the prevailing public discontent with the BJP, noting that the ground reality differs significantly from previous elections.
