Lucknow: Akhilesh Yadav, leader of the Samajwadi Party, has labeled the upcoming Lok Sabha elections as crucial for safeguarding the Constitution and democracy. Speaking at his party office in Lucknow, Yadav emphasized the need to protect reservation and uphold one's dignity, framing the electoral contest as akin to a modern-day 'churning of the sea' called 'Samvidhaan Manthan.'

Yadav highlighted the contrasting visions of different political forces, asserting, "On one side, there are those who strive to uphold the Constitution, while on the other, there are those who seek to dismantle it."

Reflecting on the political landscape in Uttar Pradesh, Yadav remarked on the transient nature of power, drawing parallels to historical events. "Those who rose to power in 2014 are now on their way out in 2024. Just as Hitler's regime lasted a decade, their tenure too has reached its end," Yadav remarked, alluding to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership.

The former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister also indirectly criticized newly-appointed minister Om Prakash Rajbhar, suggesting bureaucratic delays in his department allocation. Yadav's comments underscored the bureaucratic hurdles often encountered in governance.

Addressing agrarian issues, Yadav lamented the plight of farmers under the BJP regime, alleging a significant rise in farmer suicides. He pledged that if his party secures power, they would enshrine Minimum Support Price (MSP) into law, emphasizing the critical role agriculture plays in the nation's economy.

"The demands put forth by farmers are legitimate. MSP must be guaranteed by law, as agriculture forms the backbone of our economy. Neglecting farmers and agriculture would have dire consequences on our economy," Yadav asserted, echoing the sentiments of many in the agricultural sector.
