Political U-turn! Former Uttar Pradesh CM Akhilesh Yadav says 'he will take Covid vaccine'

Lucknow: Samajwadi Party (SP) President Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday said he too will get corona vaccine. Akhilesh Yadav tweeted, "In view of the public outcry, the government finally announced that it would get the vaccine done instead of politicising the corona anti-virus vaccine. We were against the BJP's criticism, but while welcoming the 'Government of India' vaccine, we will also get vaccinated and appeal to those who could not get vaccinated due to lack of vaccine. ''

It may be recalled that when the corona virus vaccine came in January this year, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav had asked the government how the vaccination drive would be launched and when the poor would get the free vaccine. The former Uttar Pradesh CM had said that he had faith in the doctors of the country, but not the government. He had said that after a year, when the SP government comes to power, we will ensure free vaccine for all.

Yadav had also raised a controversy saying he would not get the BJP vaccine done himself. However, he later said that he was not referring to scientists. He had said, "We are very sure of our doctors, but not on the government. It is good that the corona virus vaccine has arrived, but believe what the doctor says, not CM Yogi Adityanath." On Monday, when Akhilesh's father Mulayam Singh Yadav got the vaccine, Akhilesh's tone over the vaccine has changed.
