Thousands of visitors flock daily to the Akshardham temple in Robbinsville Township, New Jersey, the largest Hindu temple in the western hemisphere. To ensure a more personalized and enjoyable visit, temple management has implemented a new registration system. The temple, constructed over 12 years by 12,500 volunteers from across the US and inaugurated last October by spiritual leader Mahant Swami Maharaj, offers a unique blend of ancient Hindu architectural elements and cultural artifacts.

Chaitanyamurtidas Swami of BAPS Swaminarayan Akshardham explained, "Since opening seven to eight months ago, thousands have visited. To enhance their experience, prevent long waits, and manage crowds effectively, we launched the registration process in May."

Standing at 255 ft x 345 ft x 191 ft over 183 acres, Akshardham showcases 10,000 statues, carvings of Indian musical instruments, and dance forms. It has become a cultural and spiritual hub, drawing diverse crowds who participate in prayers, Aarti ceremonies, and cultural learning.

Under the new system, visitors must reserve a free, timed entry slot for weekends, national holidays, and select Hindu festivals. The temple aims to optimize guest experiences by minimizing wait times and overcrowding.

"Our goal is to offer the best experience possible. Through streamlined entry procedures and efficient visitor management, we want to ensure everyone enjoys their visit," the temple stated on its website.

The temple estimates that over half of its daily visitors are now American citizens from diverse backgrounds, reflecting its growing cultural significance beyond the Indian community.
