After Ali's absence from promotion events it is speculated that his role had been chopped off.

The director Gauri Shinde finally confirms Ali’s presence in Dear Zindagi. “He’s very much a part of my film. Like the other young actors Kunal Kapoor and Angad Bedi, he has an important role to play.”

Gauri consider Ali's absence from promotion sad, “It is unfortunate that such a situation happened.”
