New Delhi: Doctors across the country will continue their strike today against the National Medical Council Bill Bill 2019 passed in the Lok Sabha. Patients across the country are facing a lot of problems due to doctors' strike. Meanwhile, emergency services have been resumed at AIIMS and Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi from today.

The Resident Doctors Association of AIIMS has said that at the AIIMS Governing Body meeting, urDA, FORDA & AIIMS RDA officials have jointly decided to continue an indefinite strike against the National Medical Commission bill. Earlier, doctors of several government hospitals, including AIIMS, RML Hospital, Safdarjung Hospital and LNJP, boycotted the work and shouted slogans against the National Medical Commission (NMC) Bill.

The NMC bill was passed in the Lok Sabha on Monday, July 29. The government has described the decision as one of the visionary reforms, but doctors have taken to the streets to protest against the bill.


what is the NMC bill?

1- Section 32 of the NMC Bill gives 3.5 lakh non-medical persons the legal right to prescribe and treat all types of medicines by licensing them. After a 6-month bridge course, Ayurveda and Unani doctors in the country will also be able to prescribe allopathy medicines like MBBS doctors.
2- Another examination has to be conducted to start the practice even after graduation. These exams will be mandatory. Practice and post graduation will be allowed only after passing it. At present, exit tests are given only by students studying medically from abroad.
3- NMC will also fix fees for 40 per cent seats of private medical colleges. Colleges will have the right to fix the remaining 60 per cent seat fees.
4- Only one exam NEET (National Eligibility Low Entrance Test) will be taken for admission to medical institutions.
