New Delhi: For the first time in history, all the 22 Sub-Registrars (SRs) in the Revenue Department of the Delhi Government will be women officers. Indeed, the SR offices in the national capital are at the forefront of the government's interface with the common citizens. While taking charge, Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena envisaged that the SR offices of the Revenue Department of GNCTD would be headed by women officers with the aim of empowering women by placing them in important positions in government services. At the same time, he had underlined that it would ensure more sensitive, corruption-free and sympathetic public behavior.

Let us tell you that the SR office does the work related to the land registry. It includes sale, purchase and lease, registration of properties, sale deed, issue of share certificate, marriage registration, issue of caste certificate, income certificate, verification of documents, etc. You all should also know that recently many cases of corruption had come to light, in which LG suspended SR. He expressed hope that corruption, red-tapism, and harassment of people would reduce under the leadership of women officers. Yes, however, vide an earlier order, 6 women SRs were appointed.

In the fresh order issued yesterday, another 16 women officers have been appointed in the remaining 16 SR offices. After which the total number of women SRs has gone up to 22. Yes, and earlier, the Chief Secretary on 08 October at the behest of the Lt Governor had also appointed a woman Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to develop an 'e-platform' to ensure that all SR offices are faceless and the services should be provided to the people through online mode. The commissioners and DMs were also directed to ensure that the e-platform project is made functional at the earliest.
