Mirabai Chanu Written golden words in the history,on thurday by honoring the hole nation by becoming the first India woman in over two decaded to clinch gold medal 2017 World Weightlifting Championship In Anaheim,USA. At just age of 23 she had given gold medal to nation from World Championship for which india was waiting since 22 years.

The 23-year-old Mira Bai ended India's 22-year-long wait for a World Championship gold by creating a new world record of 194-kg  lifting 85 kg snatch and 109 kg in clean-and-jerk.It was also India's first gold in the tournament.Mirabai also qualified for the2016 rio olympic in the womens 48 kg category. but, she failed to finish the event as she failed to lift the weight in any of her three attempts in clean & jerk section.

Second Indian, after Karnam Malleswari, to win a gold in World Weightlifting Championship.Sydney Olympics bronze medallist Karnam Malleswari the only other lifter to  win that feat. She won the gold in the 1994 and 1995 edition in the 54-kg category.
