New Delhi: Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh's meeting with Congress President Sonia Gandhi has been postponed. CM Amarinder Singh will meet the panel set up by the party high command again on June 22 amid controversy in the Punjab Congress. Captain Amarinder is also likely to meet party president Sonia Gandhi after meeting the Congress panel. The meeting is set to chalk out a final formula to end Punjab's dispute.
After meeting the leaders of Punjab, the Congress panel had submitted its report to Sonia Gandhi. The panel had met Rahul Gandhi twice. Amarinder's meeting with Sonia after the panel's report is considered very important. Earlier, in the Punjab Cabinet meeting held on Friday amid the ongoing rift in the Punjab Congress, two Punjab MLAs and the sons of a cabinet minister were given government jobs by bringing a proposal and there was a political uproar over the same.
According to reports, punjab cabinet minister Gurpreet Kangad's son-in-law was appointed inspector in the excise department. Senior Congress MLA Rakesh Pandey's son was appointed as Naib Tehsildar while Pratap Singh Bajwa's brother and Congress MLA Fateh Jung Bajwa's son were appointed inspectors in Punjab Police. Giving all the three jobs, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh argued that these families have sacrificed their lives for Punjab and these families have lost their people in times of terrorism and they were also politicians.
