Amarnath Yatra cancelled due to bad weather restored, devotees leaving for Baltal and Pahalgam

Srinagar: The Amarnath Yatra, which was cancelled on Sunday due to bad weather, has been restored on Monday. Police said, a batch of 2,675 pilgrims left the Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas with two security convoys for the valley. According to the police, 1,131 of these passengers are on their way to Baltal Base Camp while 1,544 will go to Pahalgam Base Camp.

On the other hand, officials of the Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) informed that 1,629 devotees have visited Amarnathji in the holy cave on the 28th day of the Yatra.  He said that so far 3,19,355 Shiva devotees have visited Baba Bhandari in the holy cave.

The Amarnath Cave, located at an altitude of 3,888 m above sea level in the Himalayan ranges in Kashmir, has an ice figure, according to devotees, symbolizing the mythological powers of Lord Shiva. The journey, which began on July 1, will continue till Shravan Purnima on August 15.
