Jaipur: Union Home Minister Amit Shah, speaking at the launch of the BJP's Parivartan Yatra in Dungarpur, Rajasthan, criticized the Opposition bloc INDIA for their remarks on Sanatana Dharma. Shah stated that these remarks demonstrate the opposition's "hatred for Hinduism" and constitute an "attack on our heritage." The BJP aims to defeat the ruling Congress in the upcoming state elections in Rajasthan.

Shah accused Udhayanidhi Stalin, the son of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, of indulging in "vote bank politics" and "appeasement" tactics with his comments on Sanatana Dharma. Udhayanidhi Stalin had remarked that Sanatana Dharma is against social justice and should be eradicated, drawing parallels between it and diseases like dengue and malaria. As Udhayanidhi Stalin's remarks sparked controversy, BJP leaders labeled them a call for genocide and questioned whether all members of the INDIA bloc shared his views. In response to the criticism, MK Stalin clarified that he did not call for the genocide of Sanatana Dharma followers and that he stands by his words, speaking on behalf of the oppressed and marginalized who suffer due to caste-based divisions.

Karti Chidambaram, a Congress leader, supported Udhayanidhi Stalin's remarks, equating Sanatana Dharma with a caste-based hierarchical society and describing caste as India's curse. Amit Shah also referred to Rahul Gandhi's 2010 remark, where he stated that radical Hindu outfits posed a greater threat than terror organization Lashkar-e-Taiba. At the rally in Rajasthan, Amit Shah claimed that Sanatana Dharma holds a special place in the hearts of the people. He asserted that Sanatana Dharma will continue to thrive under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, emphasizing that India will operate in accordance with the Constitution. Shah accused the Congress of obstructing the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, asserting that the grand Ram temple will be completed in January at Lord Ram's birthplace. The Home Minister highlighted that the Parivartan Yatra, covering 2,500 kilometers over 19 days, will reach 52 assembly constituencies and include numerous meetings. Shah predicted that the Ashok Gehlot government's fate would be sealed by the end of the yatra. He further criticized the Gehlot government for alleged corruption and its failure to protect women, citing the high number of reported cases of sexual harassment in the state.
