New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has paid tribute to philosopher Swami Vivekananda on his death anniversary. The Home Minister has said that Swami Vivekananda was a patriotic saint, a great thinker and an extraordinary orator who not only reinforced the spirit of nationalism in India but also enriched the entire world with the virtues of Indian culture.

Amit Shah further said that Swami Vivekananda's teachings, the principle of universal brotherhood and the idea of self-awakening are as relevant today as they were a hundred years ago. The Union Home Minister said that Swami Vivekananda had great faith in the ability and transformational power of the youth. He believed that the youth will give the right direction and power to the development of the nation in the coming times. Swami Vivekananda died. But in such a short time, he had played the sting of Indian philosophy and Sanatan tradition all over the world.

Let us tell you that on January 12, the birthday of Swami Vivekananda is celebrated as Youth Day in the country. Swami Vivekananda was born on 12 January 1897 in Kolkata. While he died in 1902 at Belur Math in West Bengal. Swami Vivekananda had established the monastery in the name of his Guru Ramakrishna Paramahamsa. This monastery still promotes yoga and education throughout the country.
