New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah in his program 'Sankalp' organized for former government officials today declared the decision to remove Section 370 as historic. He said that the BJP and its allied organizations launched several campaigns to abolish Article 370 from the beginning. He stressed that there would be no firing on Kashmiris. Shah also retaliated on allegations that the Article 370 decision was political. He said that ever since BJP came into existence, it has been talking about one country, one constitution.
Shah, while clarifying BJP's stand on Section 370, said that the party had fought for a long time for this. He said, 'We do not just speak, we have agitated against it many times. Till Article 370 was lifted, there were 11 separate movements. Mass mobilization was done by the BJP and its allied organizations. To those who accuse us that this is a political stand, I want to make it clear that this is our stand ever since BJP was formed.
Amit Shah also said on the decision to remove Section 370 that the common people and Kashmiris also have to eliminate the misconceptions related to it. He said, 'Many misconceptions and misunderstandings are spread even today with regard to Article 370 and Kashmir. They must be clear. As clear as it is necessary to be in front of the people of Kashmir, it is also necessary to be clear in the people of India.
