The 50th Indian International Film Festival begins in Goa on Wednesday. The event was attended by celebrities like Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar, Babul Supriyo, Manoj Tiwari, Amitabh Bachchan, Rajinikanth, Priyadarshan and Prasoon Joshi. On this special occasion Rajinikanth was awarded the Icon of Golden Jubilee Award for his significant contribution in Bollywood, Tamil and Telugu. This award was given to him by Amitabh Bachchan. Apart from this, Thalaiva honored Amitabh with a special award.

On this occasion, Amitabh Bachchan said, 'Thank you to all the dignitaries, ladies and gentlemen for this honor and award. It has been the blessing of parents, many directors, writers and producers, musicians have contributed to this journey, due to which I stand here today, but the most gratitude is from the public. I will never be able to repay this debt of the public, perhaps I do not even want to take it off. Thanks to the Government of India and the Government of Goa.

He further said, 'I consider Rajinikanthji as a member of my family. It is a different matter that we keep giving advice to each other, whether we accept the advice or not. Rajinikanth is rich with a very humble personality, an incredible personality who always inspires.
