NEW DELHI: Independent MLA Ananth Singh from Mokama, who surrendered before a Delhi court after he escaped from the Bihar Police, was handed over to the Bihar Police in two days' custody. Anant Singh surrendered in Saket Court. Duty Magistrate Archana Beniwal handed over the transit remand of Anant Singh to the Bihar Police and directed him to appear before a Bihar court by 2 PM on August 26. Bihar government lawyer Gopal Singh seeks four-day remand during the hearing of the case.

But defence lawyer Gyanendra Mishra opposed it. The court directed the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) as well as others to assist the Bihar Police in complying with the order. Earlier, Ananth Singh was sent to Tihar jail in one-day judicial custody. The MLA had said in a video that he would surrender before the court.

An AK-47 rifle and a grenade were recovered from Anant Singh's house. The police had registered a case against him. He had been absconding for about a week to avoid arrest. Anant Singh had released a video on August 19 saying that he was not afraid of arrest and would surrender before the court after 2 to 3 days. Anant Singh accuses one of Bihar's ruling party MLAs of harassing him.
