The Government of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands has committed to providing seamless connectivity programme, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari said.

Gadkari has said that in line with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of reaching the last mile, we are committed to build safer all-weather roads to provide seamless connectivity in the islands.

The Beodnabad to Ferrargunj portion of NH-4 in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands was finished in 2019, said the road transport and highways minister in a series of tweets. The 26-kilometer length, which cost Rs 170 crore to build, was envisioned as part of the ambitious Andaman and Nicobar Islands Dweep Connectivity Programme, Gadkari added. It has increased access and facilitated seamless traffic movement from Port Blair to other towns in the Andaman districts, said the minister.

He stated that NH-4, also known as the 'Andaman Trunk Road,' is the islands' lifeline and plays an essential role in the socio-economic development of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
