Andhra CM S Jagan Reddy meets Amit Shah, discusses state issues

NEW DELHI: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy met with Union Minister Amit Shah on Friday to discuss a number of issues, including raising the state's borrowing limit and funding for the Polavaram Project.

According to official sources, during the meeting, Reddy reiterated the state government's demand that the net borrowing ceiling be restored to its previous level and that a revised cost estimate for the Polavaram Irrigation project be released in a fortnight at Rs 5,548.87 crore. The group also examined a slew of other pressing state issues, according to the sources.

After meeting Amit Shah on the second day of his visit, Reddy left for Vijayawada. On Thursday, he met Prime Minister Narendra Modi ahead of the presidential and vice-presidential elections scheduled in July.

The state's ongoing issues were also discussed during the meeting with Modi. Reddy also met with Nirmala Sitharaman, the Union Finance Minister, and Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, the Minister of Jal Shakti.
