Mumbai: Former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh filed a petition in the Bombay High Court last Monday. He has filed the petition under a request to quash the FIR lodged against him by the CBI on corruption charges against him. In fact, Anil Deshmukh in his petition requested for an interim order staying any punitive action against him. A bench of Justices S S Shinde and Manish Pitale is scheduled to hear the petition this week though nothing is yet to be decided.
Let me tell you that on 21st April, CBI had lodged an FIR against NCP leader Deshmukh under the Prevention of Corruption Act. On the other hand, the Bombay High Court last Monday asked the Maharashtra government and Aurangabad municipal body officials to appeal to entrepreneurs and local corporate groups to donate to build electric and LPG crematoria in the district. ''
In addition, the Aurangabad bench of the court gave the example of Israel when it was explained about the cost of construction of power and LPG crematoria. Further, the court also said that it purchased anti-covid vaccines at a price higher than the market price to protect its citizens from vaccination and nationwide lockdown losses. At the same time, the court said that the authorities should appeal to the industrial area of Aurangabad to donate under their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) for construction of crematoria.
