At the same time, Anil Vij also said that although it is a personal matter of the Congress, looking at what is going on, it seems that there is no democracy in the Congress. If there is a democracy, then the principle says that the chief should be elected by conducting secret ballots of MLAs. Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Monday sought a written report from both observers Mallikarjun Kharge and Ajay Maken and held extensive consultations with former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath.
Kharge and Maken returned to Delhi on Monday and reached 10 Janpath to meet Sonia Gandhi after the legislature party meeting could not be held in Jaipur and MLAs supporting CM Ashok Gehlot took a rebel stand. After the meeting with Sonia Gandhi that lasted for more than one and a half hours, Maken said that the legislature party meeting in Jaipur on Sunday evening was called at the behest of CM Gehlot. Maken told the press that I and Kharge Ji gave detailed information to Sonia Ji regarding the developments in Rajasthan.
