New Delhi: Social worker Anna Hazare has written a letter to the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is facing allegations of a scam in the new excise policy in the country's capital Delhi. In this letter, Anna has slammed Arvind Kejriwal, who was once his disciple.

He has written in his letter that, 'You (Kejriwal) had written so many ideal things in this book named 'Swaraj'. I had high hopes from you since then. But after going into politics and becoming CM, you have forgotten the ideal ideology.' Hazare wrote 'Just as there is an intoxication of alcohol, so is the intoxication of power. You too have drowned in the intoxication of such power.' Criticizing the excise policy of Delhi, he has written in the letter – Your government has formulated a new liquor policy in Delhi. This can encourage the sale and consumption of alcohol. New liquor shops can be opened in the street. This may encourage corruption. This is not in the interest of the public.

In his letter, he wrote 'Looking at the new liquor policy of the Delhi government, it is now known that the party which was formed after the loss of a historic movement, also started following in the footsteps of other parties. It is very sad.' He wrote in the letter, 'If such public education was the work of public awareness, then such a wrong policy of alcoholism would not have been made anywhere in the country. Whichever party the government was, it was necessary to have a pressure group of like-minded people to force the government to work in the public interest. Had this been the case, today the situation in the country would have been different and the poor would have benefited, but unfortunately this did not happen.'

Let us tell you that the AAP government in Delhi is badly surrounded by the liquor scam. It is alleged that through this policy, the close people of AAP benefitted. But the Kejriwal government, calling all the allegations false, was telling its excise policy at best. After these allegations, when Lieutenant Governor (LG) Vinay Kumar Saxena ordered a CBI inquiry into the new liquor policy, the Delhi government immediately announced the implementation of the old policy. At present, the CBI is investigating the liquor scam against Deputy CM Manish Sisodia.
