On Tuesday, Amul company officials said that due to the increase in energy, logistics and packaging costs, the prices of Amul milk may rise once again. However, he did not specify how much the price will go up this time. Earlier, on March 1, 2022, Amul had also increased the prices of milk by Rs 2 per litre.
The same Amul MD RS Sodhi said after a discussion with the media that the prices from here can not come down but will go up. Sodhi said the co-operative union has increased the prices of Amul Milk by 8 per cent in the last two years. This includes an increase of Rs 2 per litre in milk prices last month. It is clear from Sodhi's words that the price of Amul milk may increase in the coming time.
Sodhi further said that inflation in his industry is not a cause for concern as it is benefiting the farmers from higher prices for produce. Sodhi said, "The growth made by Amul and the dairy sector is very limited compared to others or against the increase in input costs. On the other hand, energy prices have gone up by more than a third, affecting cold storage spending. The logistics cost has also increased in the same way and the same is the case with packaging. Due to these pressures, the prices of milk have increased by 1 to 2 rupees in March.
