Lucknow: Samajwadi Party President and former Uttar Pradesh CM Akhilesh Yadav has announced to contest the assembly elections from Karhal seat. The Samajwadi Party has suffered a major setback following Akhilesh's announcement. Samajwadi Party leader Raghupal Singh Bhadauria resigned from Karhal and joined BJP. Not only that, he has also levelled serious allegations against Akhilesh Yadav.

Raghupal Singh has been the state secretary of the SP. Raghuraj Singh alleges that only the Yadav family or the fraternity gets an opportunity in the Samajwadi Party. I have also been a village pradhan from Karhal. Always worked for the Samajwadi Party. I am a former jawan. But Akhileshji did not listen to me there. The people there are with me. I will work for the BJP candidate.

Akhilesh will contest from Karhal seat in Mainpuri. The SP had announced Akhilesh's seat on Thursday. Former party national president Mulayam Singh Yadav has a close connection with the seat. Mulayam Singh Yadav was educated at Jain Inter College in Karhal and was also a teacher here. Karhal is just 4 km from Mulayam Singh Yadav's village Saifai. The Karhal seat has been occupied by the Samajwadi Party for the past 7 times. Even in the wave of 2017, the BJP could not win the seat.
