Hapur: A man has been arrested for offering namaz at a temple in Hapur, Uttar Pradesh. The culprit was identified as Anwar. It is alleged that Anwar, while offering namaz in the temple, raised slogans of Ghazwa-e-Hind and threatened to bomb the temple and build a mosque there. The incident took place on Friday (June 9, 2023).

According to media reports, the incident took place at Srichandi Siddhpeeth temple in Hapur. At around 4:40 in the morning, a man entered the temple. After walking for a while, he laid a bed sheet and started praying. At this, the priest of the temple and the people present there tried to stop him. At this, he got angry and started abusing them. Even after the indecency, the people present there were asking him to leave the temple. At this, he threatened to pray the next Friday. Not only this, Anwar raised the slogan of Ghazwa-e-Hind in the temple premises and threatened to bomb the temple and build a mosque there. He then threatened to rob the temple, claiming that his other accomplices were also present outside the temple. However, after this, the priests and devotees of the temple chased him away from the temple premises.  

As the news of this case spread in the area, a large number of people gathered near the temple and started creating ruckus. Angered by this incident, the business class also warned of a shutdown. On receiving the news of the case, the police reached the spot in large numbers. Along with the police, senior officers including DM, SP also reached the spot and pacified the people. The police had started investigating the case by taking CCTV footage from the temple premises. On the basis of CCTV footage, the police arrested Anwar. A case was registered against him under sections 295, 295A, 298 and 153A of the IPC. On the basis of preliminary investigation, the police are denying any conspiracy in this case and are talking about strict interrogation of the culprit. On the other hand, the priests and other persons of the temple washed the temple premises with Ganga water and offered prayers there.
