New Delhi: The first batch of Apache attack helicopters to Indian air force will reach the Hindon airbase in Ghaziabad by the end of this month. It is expected that there will be 3 to 4 helicopters in the consignment. However,  have to wait one more month for the deployment of the first Apache squadron at Pathankot. India has bought 22 Apache helicopters from the US.

According to sources, Apache helicopters will arrive at the Hindon airbase in Ghaziabad by AN 224 transport aircraft on July 27. They will be produced here and will be transported to Pathankot in the last week of August to formally join the Indian Air Force. The first squadron of Apache will be stationed at Pathankot, the first of which will be the Commanding Officer, Group Captain M Shaylu.

The Indian Air Force's 125 Helicopter Squadron (125 H SQUADRON), already deployed at Pathankot, currently blows MI-35 helicopters and will now be the country's first Apache Squadron team. The second squadron will be stationed at Jorhat in Assam. It is expected that all Apache helicopters will be available to the Indian Air Force by 2020.  Indian Air Force currently uses Russian-made MI 35 and MI 25 attack helicopters.
