Bangalore: The Karnataka High Court will hear the hijab dispute again on Tuesday. Senior advocate Tanvir Ahmad Mir will also make arguments today on behalf of the six Muslim girl students who had earlier filed a petition in support of the hijab. Tanvir will cross-examine senior advocate Devdutt Kamat after. Tanvir Ahmed said that a fresh petition has been filed by the girl students standing in support of the hijab. It said that there are elections in some states, so the matter has become political, due to which the girl students are being harassed.

The petition said that the current session of the school ends on March 3. Therefore, the hearing of the case related to the hijab dispute should be adjourned to March 3. It has been further saying that till then, the girl students should be given the concession to come wearing hijab. After this, the school administration made different rules for the new school session. On Monday, the petition was also mentioned in the Karnataka High Court. But the judges refused to argue it separately as the case is being heard.

During the hearing in the High Court on the hijab dispute, the girl students, who had filed a petition in favour of wearing the hijab, had urged the Karnataka court to allow them to wear a hijab off the colour with school uniforms. Advocate Kamat had further said that the hijab is a necessary religious practice. Banning its use is a violation of Article 25 of the Indian Constitution.
