Apple's much-awaited Glow Time event, scheduled for September 9, is set to reveal the latest iPhone 18 series and other new innovations. Ahead of the event, the company has introduced iOS 18.1 beta 3, showcasing several noteworthy updates.

Key Updates in iOS 18.1 Beta 3

1. Clean Up Feature in Photos

One of the standout additions in iOS 18.1 beta 3 is the new Clean Up feature in the Photos app. Powered by Apple Intelligence, this tool simplifies the process of removing unwanted elements from photos. Users can select areas to remove by tapping, brushing, or circling within the photo editor. The feature also supports pinch-to-zoom for detailed edits and highlights objects that can be removed with a single tap. This includes the option to obscure human faces for enhanced privacy.

2. Expanded AI Notification Summaries

The AI-driven notification summaries have been extended to include all apps, not just Messages and Mail. Users can now select which apps will provide AI-generated summaries or enable summaries across all applications. This update aims to streamline notifications, allowing users to stay informed without needing to open each app individually.

3. Removal of US Region Restriction

Previously, Apple Intelligence features were limited to users who set their device region to the United States. iOS 18.1 beta 3 removes this restriction, allowing users to access these features as long as their device language is set to US English and Siri’s language is also configured accordingly. However, due to regulatory issues, this feature remains unavailable in the European Union and China.

4. New Setup Walkthrough

The new setup walkthrough in iOS 18.1 beta 3 introduces users to the update's features, including Apple Intelligence and enhanced notification summaries. Users can choose to set up these features immediately or at a later time.

5. iPadOS 18 Enhancements

iPadOS 18.1 brings improvements to the tab bar experience. Enhancements include the ability to add playlists and folders to the tab bar in Apple Music, and to add individual publications in Apple News for quick access.

6. macOS 15.1 Beta 3 Update

The macOS 15.1 beta 3 update introduces a notable change to the Mac App Store. Users can now download apps larger than 1GB directly to an external drive, which is a useful option for those with limited internal storage.

Apple’s upcoming Glow Time event promises to showcase these exciting new features and more, highlighting the company's ongoing commitment to innovation and user experience.
