Patna: Today is the death anniversary of Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) founder and former Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan. Born on July 5, 1946, in the Khagaria district of Bihar, Ram Vilas Paswan was the eldest of three brothers. He was a bright student in studies from the beginning, Ram Vilas Paswan also passed the Administrative Service Examination of Bihar. He also got an appointment as Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in the police department.

Ram Vilas Paswan himself had told during an interview in 2016, that in 1969, I was selected in both DSP and MLA simultaneously. Then a friend of mine asked that tell me whether to become a Govt or a Servant. That's when I joined politics. Ram Vilas Paswan was considered an uncrowned king of politics, whether there was a government of any party at the centre, Paswan used to have one post of a central minister. This was the reason, Paswan got an opportunity to work with 6 Prime Ministers of the country. Due to his friendly nature, he used to fit into every political circle.

For the first time, he defeated a senior Congress leader by contesting the by-election from the Aloli seat in Bihar on behalf of the Samyukta  Socialist Party and at this time he was only 23 years old. This is where his political career began. After this, in 1977, he made a record that was included in the Guinness Book of World Records. He won from Hajipur by 4.25 lakh votes and broke his own record in 1989 when he won by 5.05 lakh votes. Ram Vilas Paswan, a nine-time Union minister and nine-time Lok Sabha member and two-time Rajya Sabha member, passed away on October 8, 2020.
