Shimla: Himachal Pradesh is a hill state located in western India. It borders Jammu and Kashmir in the north, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh in the west and south-west, Uttarakhand in the south-east and Tibet in the east. If the literal meaning of 'Himachal Pradesh' is seen, it means the zone of the snowy mountains. Himachal Pradesh is also known as Dev Bhoomi.
In Himachal Pradesh, the influence of the Aryans is considered to be older than the Rig Veda. After the Anglo-Gorkha war, it came under British Rule. Till 1857, it was a part of the state of Punjab under the rule of Maharaja Ranjit Singh of Punjab. The State was made a Union Territory in 1950, but in 1971, under the Himachal Pradesh State Act, 1971, it was given the status of the eighteenth State of India on 25 January 1971.
Himachal Pradesh is located in the middle of the western Himalayas, here is considered to be the abode of gods and goddesses. There are many ancient temples of stone and wood in the state of Himachal. Culture and traditions have made Himachal a unique region. The high-rise mountains, glaciers, shady valleys and huge pine trees, insolent rivers and distinctive creatures seem to be composing melodious music for Himachal.
