British historian Jade Adams Shades has written a book on Mahatma Gandhi's sex life called Gandhi: Naked Ambition, in which he has made amazing claims.

Jade Adams claims to have written the book after investigating hundreds of Gandhi's perils. The book says that in old age Bapu used to bathe naked with many young women and used to get a massage from them. The author also claims that Bapu used to sleep with his disciples. However, the book also says that there is no evidence to say that Bapu had sex with those women. But the use of celibacy enforced by Bapu and the actions in the name of these experiments are mentioned in that book. According to Adams, when Hindu-Muslim riots broke out in Noakhali in Bengal, Gandhi called his granddaughter Manu and said, "If you were not with me, Muslim fundamentalists would have killed us. Let us both sleep naked with each other from today and test our purity and celibacy.''

Gandhiji's grandson Rajmohan Gandhi wrote in one of his books, "Mohandas: A True Story of a Man, His People and an Empire" that Mahatma Gandhi, known for his conscience, fell in love with Sarla Devi at the age of 50 even after being married and fathering four children. Not only that, but he had also agreed to marry Sarla, a 47-year-old married woman. Sarla Devi was the daughter of Swarna Kumari, the elder sister of Nobel Laureate poet-writer Rabindranath Tagore.
