Born on July 5, 1995 in Hyderabad, Telangana, PV Sindhu's international career in badminton began in 2009. She won his first medal at the international level in 2009 after making a splash at the national level. PV Sindhu's father PV Ramanna and mother P Vijaya were also volleyball players, but daughter PV Sindhu chose badminton. PV Sindhu's father PV Ramanna was awarded  with the Arjuna Award in the year 2000. PV Sindhu was educated from St. Ann's College for Women in Mehndipatnam.

When Pullela Gopichand won the All England Open Badminton Championship title in 2001, Sindhu had decided to grow up to be a shuttler. She started playing badminton at the age of 8. She started basic training in badminton under the supervision of Mehboob Ali from the Railway Institute of Signal Engineering Ground in Secunderabad. Sindhu then started training at Pullela Gopichand's Gopichand Academy in Hyderabad.

PV Sindhu won her first medal at the international level in 2009. He then won a bronze medal at the World Championships in 2013. She won bronze medals at the 2014 World Championships, Asian Games and Commonwealth Games. She won silver medals at the Rio de Janeiro Olympics in 2016 and the World Championships in 2017. PV Sindhu has been awarded the Arjuna Award in 2013, the Padma Shri award in 2015 and the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award in 2016.
