Karnataka's sculptor Arun Yogiraj remains a topic of discussion. The idol of Ramlala that he has carved has also been installed in the sanctum sanctorum of the new Ram temple in Ayodhya. Arun Yogiraj considers himself the 'luckiest person'. Arun says it feels like 'living a dream'. Arun is also the most sought after sculptor in the country at present. He has made many sculptures. But never before had the whole world been waiting so eagerly for a statue made by him. Arun Yogiraj has carved the idol in the form of 5 year old Ram, whose height is 51 inches. He said in the conversation that how God descends into the heart of an artist devotee and reaches his mind. Then it gets absorbed into the stone and the idol takes the shape of God.

'I used to think only about carving the statue day and night': Arun Yogiraj says that he was given a huge responsibility. Was engaged in the work of carving the idol for 7 months. Day and night he was only thinking about how he was going to make the country see God. First of all we collected information of 5 year old children. The challenge was to find Ram within the five year old child. Today the whole world is happy so we are feeling very happy. Ramlala belongs to the whole country. The love of the people of the country for Ramlala is visible.

'I am an artist of my fifth generation': Arun Yogi Raj says that our family has been doing sculpture work for 300 years. I am a 5th generation artist. Work is achieved only by the grace of Ram. It is the ideal of the ancestors. My father is my teacher. Had been working for 300 years, God said come and do my work. I am a very lucky person in the world.

'Used to spend more time with children': Arun Yogiraj on Ram Lalla's smile. Continuing his point, he says that you have only one opportunity to work in stone. There is little opportunity for improvement. One has to bring out a feeling with the stone. You also need to spend a lot of time with the stone. I had saved more than a thousand photos. Used to spend more time with children to get information about them. To focus on work, I was isolated from the outside world. Created discipline and decided to spend more time with the stone. Doing homework regarding the next day's work is also included in the daily routine. Have to keep children's faces in mind. We had to understand the changes that occur in a child's face when he smiles. My Ramlala ordered me and I also followed it.

'The concern was whether the people of the country would like it or not?': Not only this, Arun takes his point further and says that I was doing the work, but what has to be made by me - it is only Ramlala who decides. I used to get this feeling while working. I spent the last seven months very emotionally with the stone. I also have a son and daughter. I just talked to my 7 year old daughter and showed her the photo of the statue after completing the task. I used to ask how are you looking? So the girl replied – Appa is like a child. While working, I was also worried whether the people of the country would like it or not? But after two days the country is giving so much love that it cannot even be expressed.

'I got inspiration after seeing pictures of Diwali': Arun says that I got a lot of information in Ayodhya on the day of Diwali. Normally, I can carve any face in stone in two hours, but the circumstances were different in carving the idol of Ramlala. We had a lot of photos and information. After celebrating Diwali, I saw two or three pictures at night. In this, children were celebrating Diwali with their parents. I got a chance to see and understand the emotions of the children.

'When I saw the idol in the sanctum sanctorum, I could not recognize it': Arun Yogi Raj also says about Ramlala's eyes that I can usually make eyes in 10 different ways. I made one eye. But there was a lot of tension. I was wondering whether it was good or not. He used to ask his friends whether his eyes were looking good or not. My friends encouraged me. The statue looked different when it was made. But after the consecration, there was a different feeling. I felt that this was not my job. This looks very different. As if God has taken a different form. After consecration, I myself could not recognize the Ramlala whom I had created for seven months. A lot changed as soon as I entered the sanctum sanctorum. After two days a lot of love is coming. I used to tell God that I want to see you before the whole country can see you, please give me your darshan. This is the reason why I keep getting inspiration.

'Every day a monkey used to come and visit': Arun Yogi Raj says that when he used to work on carving idols, a monkey used to come every day at 5 pm. Then due to some cold, we covered the workshop with tarpaulin and the monkey came out and started knocking loudly. This monkey used to come every day between 4-5 pm. I had told this to Champat Rai ji also. Maybe he (Hanuman ji) would also like to see it. Amidst the carvings he passed along tales and surprises. Arun says that I could not sleep properly for 7 months. Darshan takes place even after sleeping.
