Health official of Arunanchal said on Thursday that the COVID-19 total in has risen to 62,893 after 237 more people tested positive for the virus, while two more people died of the disease at a health facility here, bringing the death toll to 290.

A 61-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man, both from the Capital Complex Region, died of Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome with Covid Pneumonia at the Dedicated Covid Hospital in Chimpu near here on Tuesday, according to State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa.

According to the official, 60,228 people have recovered from the disease in the state so far, including 357 on Wednesday.  He stated the recovery rate among patients increased slightly to 95.76 percent from 95.55 percent the day before. There were 56 new cases in the Capital Complex Region, 46 in Lower Subansiri, 19 in East Siang, 17 in Namsai, and 15 in West Kameng.

According to Jampa, 197 new cases were discovered using quick antigen testing, 23 through RT-PCR, and 17 through TrueNAT methods, with 93 of them having COVID-19 symptoms. There are presently 2,375 active cases in Arunachal Pradesh.

The Capital Complex Region, which includes the cities of Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli, and Banderdewa, has the most active cases (810), followed by Lower Subansiri (263) West Kameng (146), Papumpare (128), and East Siang (128). (112). According to Jampa, a total of 12,42,947 samples have been tested for the illness throughout the state so far, including 2,206 on Wednesday, with a positive rate of 10.74 percent, down from 13.07 percent the day before.

So far, 15,83,073 persons have been vaccinated, according to State Immunization Officer Dr Dimong Padung. At least 50,303 people between the ages of 15 and 18 have been vaccinated, with 17,475 senior citizens receiving the booster dose.
