In a significant move, Rahul Gandhi, a prominent leader of the Congress party, has reached out to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's family, expressing full support in light of Kejriwal's recent arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday, March 21.

According to party sources, Rahul Gandhi intends to meet with Arvind Kejriwal and his family on Friday, March 22, offering legal assistance during this challenging time.

The arrest of the Delhi CM stems from a case related to the city's liquor policy, for which Kejriwal had been summoned nine times by the ED. Despite his plea for interim protection being denied by the Delhi High Court, Kejriwal was taken into custody from his residence on Thursday evening.

Following his arrest, Kejriwal was escorted to the Enforcement Directorate headquarters, where a medical team was also present. The news of Kejriwal's arrest has garnered widespread shock, with members and supporters of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) rallying behind their leader.

Apart from the Congress, the entire INDIA bloc has expressed solidarity with Kejriwal. However, BJP leaders have maintained their stance, asserting the need for truth to prevail and supporting the actions of the ED against the Delhi Chief Minister.

In response, Atishi, the Education Minister of Delhi and a key figure in the AAP, called upon the BJP to cease using the Enforcement Directorate as a political instrument aimed at obstructing Kejriwal's participation in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Atishi revealed that the party had approached the Supreme Court to challenge Kejriwal's arrest and had requested an urgent hearing. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Atishi announced, "We have moved the Supreme Court to challenge the arrest of Delhi CM @ArvindKejriwal by ED. We have sought an urgent hearing by the Supreme Court tonight itself."

Furthermore, Atishi condemned what she deemed as undemocratic tactics employed by the ruling BJP, citing the arrests of two opposition Chief Ministers and the freezing of a Congress party bank account. She accused the BJP of undermining democracy and urged them to engage in fair political competition rather than resorting to the misuse of agencies like the ED.

In essence, the ongoing situation surrounding Arvind Kejriwal's arrest has sparked intense political debate, with various parties and leaders taking distinct stances on the matter.
