Today i.e. on 14th June, is the birthday of Arvind Swami. He is an Indian film actor known for his fine work mainly in Tamil cinema. He was introduced by Mani Ratnam as an actor in the drama film Thalapathy (1991) and later Ratnam's Roja (1992) and Bombay (1995). Arvind has acted in other films including Malayalam film Devaragam (1996) and Rajiv Menon's film, Minsara Kanavu, and Mani Ratnam's Alayiputhe (2000). Arvind worked in engineering and production before starring in Mani Ratnam's production, the 2013 film Kadal. Spent a decade in business ranging from international trade to global outsourcing. He also played a negative role in the 2015 film Thani Oruvan.

Arvind Swamy was born in Tamil Nadu. His parents were industrialist VD Swamy and Bharatanatyam dancer Vasanta Swamy. Swami attended Sishya School and later attended Don Bosco Matriculation Higher Secondary School and completed schooling in 1987. He then graduated in business from Loyola College, Chennai in 1990. He went to the US to pursue Masters in International Business from Wake Forest University in North Carolina.

As a child, Swamy never wanted to become an actor or join his father's business. Instead, he wanted to become a doctor. When he joined the Loyola Theater Society, he was not welcomed and asked to get off the stage. Mani Ratnam saw an advertisement and called him for a meeting and Mani Ratnam and Santosh Sivan familiarized him with the basics of filmmaking. 

Swamy married Gayatri Ramamurthy in 1994 and has a daughter, Adhia (born 1996) and a son Rudra (born 2000). However, these two spouses were separated for seven years from 2010, when they filed for divorce. Now Arvind Swami lives with his children.
