Mumbai: It is going to be a month since Eknath Shinde came to power with the help of the BJP after overthrowing Uddhav Thackeray in Maharashtra, but the cabinet is yet to be expanded. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis are running the government together, but the situation regarding the cabinet is not clear. In such a situation, a question is being raised in the mind of everyone on which formula the Cabinet will be formed and how big it will be. How many leaders from BJP and Shinde factions will become ministers? 

Let us know that the total number of members in the Maharashtra Assembly is 288. In such a situation, only 15% can become a minister constitutionally. This means that only a maximum of 42 people can be made ministers in Maharashtra. This includes the CM and the Deputy CM. So, there is a place for 40 ministers in the Maharashtra Cabinet, but now the question arises as to how many people the Shinde Government inducts into its Cabinet. On June 30, Eknath Shinde was sworn in as CM and Devendra Fadnavis as deputy CM. It has been almost 26 days since the formation of the Government, but the Cabinet could not be expanded. There was talk of cabinet formation in Maharashtra after the presidential election. In this regard, the swearing-in ceremony of the presidential election has also been completed. In such a situation, all eyes are now on when the cabinet will be formed and how Shinde-Fadnavis divide the ministry among themselves.  

In fact, on the one hand, there are eight former ministers in the rebel Shiv Sena camp except for Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. There were nine ministers who rebelled against Uddhav with Shinde, including five cabinet ministers and four ministers of state. In such a situation, after Shinde became the Chief Minister, 8 leaders are still looking to become ministers. Apart from this, other rebel Shiv Sena leaders were also assured to become ministers, who are hoping to become ministers. However, the Uddhav Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi government had 10 cabinets and four ministers of state from the Shiv Sena quota. Shinde is currently accompanied by 40 Shiv Sena MLAs. In Maharashtra, the uproar over the cabinet formation has intensified. In such a situation, there are reports that independents in the Shinde cabinet, including rebels, and MLAs of smaller parties supporting the government, may be made ministers. According to sources, the Shinde faction wants 8 cabinet berths and 5 posts of state for itself. At the same time, the BJP will target 29 ministers from its quota. In such a situation, the Shinde faction will press for retaining the existing portfolios as the Uddhav government had stopped all decisions taken by the rebel ministers in the last month. Besides, the Shinde faction wants independent MLAs to be inducted into the cabinet from the BJP quota. It remains to be seen how many things the BJP believes in the Shinde faction.
