Lucknow: AIMIM chief and Lok Sabha MP from Hyderabad Asaduddin Owaisi lashed out at Samajwadi Party (SP) national president Akhilesh Yadav along with the BJP. However, Owaisi sympathised with SP MP Azam Khan, saying injustice was done to him, he would definitely be acquitted. At the same time, Owaisi targeted Akhilesh Yadav, saying he does not want to empower Muslim women.

He said "I am talking about the empowerment of women. I'm telling the reality. Akhilesh is dreaming of the day that he has become CM. One thing has been placed in the minds of Muslims that your job is to vote only and only. My point is that now you take votes, your job is not to vote.'' On the hijab controversy, Owaisi said that Akhilesh Yadav is silent on the issue. I think that's a big issue for women. No one should have a problem wearing a hat on my head. For years, girls have been wearing hijabs in school. The controversy has been started by the BJP government there itself. They've made it an issue.

Owaisi said that the court cannot abolish fundamental rights. The AIMIM chief further said that Muslim girls are being prevented from taking education. Children are already wearing hijabs. The Quran allows the wearing of the hijab. I am challenging the Samajwadi Party, BSP, Congress and BJP to say that we don't want the votes of women wearing burqas and hijabs. I'm saying that I want votes.
